Desperate Amateurs review

Desperate Amateurs has been around a long time – almost two decades, now. These folks used to run a clip store rather than being a pay site. They attempted to change over twice, but it took the second one for things to stick: probably because pulling in authentic amateurs is a constant, ongoing quest for any studio in this particular niche. We can, however, celebrate that the 2nd attempt stuck, because of what it’s produced. And to give you the details on why, let’s jump into the library details on this point.

Multiple Weekly Updates, Near 1K Videos, 4K Videos, Long Run-Times

As of the time of writing for this review, the Desperate Amateurs collection includes 983+ videos, alongside a much smaller collection of photo sets. The update schedule is quite nice – expect to see new content dropping 2-3x per week. Even better, the videos average a very generous 30 minutes of run-time each, and on top of that, the newest of them are available for download in up to the very modern 4K resolution, which is quite delightful on displays capable of representing it in it’s full glory. I can’t say why galleries are such a smaller collection – expect to find 87+ of these – or why they’re not updating, but on this side, expect sets of roughly 30 lower-resolution pics each.

Great Features, Mobile-Responsive Site

Thankfully, the site is also quite solid. You can expect the site to be nicely laid-out and intuitively organized, as well as being properly mobile-responsive. Surprisingly detailed filters augment the delightful advanced search, plus a great category list and an impressive set of tags help to narrow down your results even further. Plus, you can expect some sorting options, ratings, comments, favorites, and even a fairly basic, but well-implemented, model index to help as well. As such, navigation is very solid here overall.
